COSMOS, a trusted label for your cosmetics
The COSMOS standard meets all your consumers’ requirements for organic and natural cosmetics:

- product safety and effectiveness.
As the Benelux subsidiary of the Ecocert Group, we offer the Ecocert COSMOS label. You have the guarantee that all products marketed with this label have been checked by our teams: from the ingredients and processing right down to the packaging.
COSMOS certification requires consumers to be provided with certain information:
- Organic ingredients, if used
- Percentage of organic and natural ingredients in the product
- Information on the specifications and an indication of the certification body.
This gives consumers transparency about the content of natural and organic ingredients.
Global reach
COSMOS is THE worldwide standard for organic and natural cosmetics. To achieve it, your product must be certified by an independent organisation such as CERTISYS®.
This internationally recognised, consistent standard ensures that your products meet the strictest criteria.
By obtaining the COSMOS label, your product will have access to new markets. There are more than 55,000 products and ingredients that carry the COSMOS signature worldwide! We are proud that 60% of these products are certified by the Ecocert Group!
Appropriate labels for your brand
COSMOS offers two levels of certification:
- COSMOS Natural:
- An environmentally friendly production method
- All ingredients must be of natural origin (with the exception of preservatives – see Annex V.1 of the COSMOS standard)
- COSMOS Organic:
- An environmentally friendly production method
- All ingredients must be of natural origin (with the exception of preservatives – see Annex V.1 of the COSMOS standard)
- At least 20% of all ingredients must be organic (except for rinsed products, non-emulsified aqueous products and 80% mineral products: in this case, at least 10% of all ingredients must be organic)
- 95% of PPAIs used are organic
The COSMOS specifications go even further than the formula of your product. They also set demanding criteria for manufacturers and how the product is produced. For example, cleaning procedures are monitored to limit the impact of discharges on the environment; packaging is accepted according to recycling potential and should be minimised; regular checks are made to review the company’s environmental management plan. The implementation of these requirements is verified during inspection visits at least once a year by a certification body such as CERTISYS®.
