[#R(EU)BIONEWS: European organic regulation: greater clarity without compromising on requirements]

The European Commission has launched the revision of Regulation (EU) 2018/848 on organic production. IFOAM Organics Europe welcomes this initiative.

But what does this really imply? The principles of organic production and the high requirements remain unchanged.
The objective?

To provide greater clarity, stability and legal certainty in the application of the rules.

Concretely, for you, certified operators:

  • No change to the demanding organic standards
  • Better consideration of on the ground realities across the 27 Member States
  • Targeted adjustments through updated guidelines, interpretations and FAQs. NO full revision of the Regulation
  • A focus on business continuity and regulatory predictability

IFOAM Organics Europe clearly states:
This is not about deregulation, but about a more effective and harmonized implementation of the organic framework.”
