The European regulatory framework
Since the adoption of Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 of 24 June 1991, the term “organic farming” has become an officially protected designation within the European Union.
Anyone wishing to use this designation to label products must submit them to an inspection carried out by an independent authority or body (such as Certisys), approved by the Member States, in order to obtain organic certification for their products.
To carry out this mission, CERTISYS is:
- approved by public authorities, that is
- In Belgium: the Ministries of Agriculture of the three Regions
- In the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg: the Ministry of Agriculture (ASTA).
For NATRUE certification:
To carry out this mission, CERTISYS is approved by NATRUE aisbl.
