Biogarantie\u00ae is not only based on EU regulations, the label also promotes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>setting fair prices<\/li>\n<li>conserving resources (water, energy, biodiversity)<\/li>\n<li>minimising transport, packaging and waste<\/li>\n<li>local and seasonal products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The use of the Biogarantie\u00ae label shows your commitment as a producer or processor, for example, to all these sustainable practices, which are described in a charter. To use it, you must respect the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.certisys.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/CDCH-BIOGARANTIE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Biogarantie\u00ae specifications<\/strong><\/a> and <strong>sign the related sustainability charter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biogarantie\u00ae specifications<\/p>\n<p>On the francophone side, trade association <a href=\"https:\/\/www.probila-unitrab.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Probila-Unitrab<\/a> is responsible for managing the <strong>Biogarantie\u00ae<\/strong> label for food processors, distributors, retailers and caterers. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unab-bio.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNAB<\/a> performs the same function for producers. For Biogarantie\u00ae products made by a subcontractor, the declaration must be completed by the subcontractor manager. The shops must respect <strong>constraints <\/strong>relating to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>range<\/strong>: they must offer a wide range of food products (at least 70% of their full product range) of which at least 80% are certified organic.<\/li>\n<li>and <strong>labelling<\/strong>: they must communicate about organic products (signage, labels, products etc.) in a way which highlights and promotes their commitment to them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>Biogarantie\u00ae, a communications tool for organic restaurants?<\/h3>\n<p>EU regulations do not cover <strong>organic catering<\/strong> and do therefore not offer a way of communicating about organic products, in particular with the EU organic logo, for caterers. There are, however, <strong>regional standards which apply in Brussels and Wallonia<\/strong>. These standards <strong>copy the Biogarantie\u00ae<\/strong> <strong>specifications, <\/strong>to provide official recognition of organic caterers. Organic labelling, which is regulated, requires any caterer communicating about their organic purchases or specialities to be inspected and certified.
