Certification of organic products out of European Union: Publication of Regulations No. 1267/2011

On December 6, 2011, the European Commission officially recognized the Certisys' certification system in third countries as an equivalent to Regulation 834/2007.

The recognition was made on the basis of a positive assessment of the application and the technical file introduced by Certisys in October 2009. This positive evaluation results in the inclusion of Certisys in Annex IV of Regulation 1235/2008.

The recognition covers all application:
categories of products: all organic plant products,
Five countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Ghana and Vietnam.

Following this recognition, for exporters, Certisys is the only organization recognized for control in Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana and Vietnam. As for Senegal, there are two recognized control body.

As for importers, following the recognition of Certisys, from 1 jully 2012, there is no need of an import permit for products certified by Certisys. Imported products must always be accompanied by a batch certificate.

Recognition of Certisys results in that it will be ask to exporters certified by Certisys to use a new code to refer to Certisys.
